Frequently asked questions
How strong is the protection?
The PDF is encrypted with 256-bit AES — the same standard Adobe Acrobat uses. Without the password the content can't be read. Use a long password for best security.
Will it open everywhere?
Yes. Adobe Reader, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, macOS Preview and mobile PDF apps all ask for the password and then open the file normally.
What if I forget the password?
It can't be recovered — not even by us, because it never leaves your device. Keep an unprotected copy somewhere safe.
What do the print/copy/edit options do?
They ask PDF readers to block those actions after the file is opened. Reputable readers respect them, but they are weaker than the open password itself.
Can anyone else see my password?
No. The file is encrypted inside your browser, so the password is never sent, stored or logged anywhere — only people you give it to can open the PDF.
