Key features
- Keyword-based Redaction — Enter a word or phrase and every occurrence on every page is blacked out precisely.
- Position-accurate — Uses PDF.js coordinate data to place black boxes exactly over the target text.
- Nothing Left Underneath — Unlike simple black boxes, no original text remains below the redaction.
- All Pages Covered — Redaction runs across the entire document automatically.
- Text Truly Removed — Redacted pages are rebuilt, so the hidden text can't be copied, searched or recovered.
Frequently asked questions
Is the text really removed?
Yes. Pages with a match are rebuilt as images with the matches blacked out, so the original text no longer exists in the file and can't be copied, searched or recovered. Pages without matches are unchanged.
Are all occurrences found?
Yes — every match on every page, even when the PDF stores a word in several pieces. Options let you match case and whole words only.
What else is removed?
Bookmarks and attachments are not copied into the redacted file, and the document title is removed if it contains a search term.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Scans have no text to search. Run OCR PDF first, then redact the result.
How can I check the redaction worked?
Open the downloaded PDF and search for the removed word. It won't be found, because the redacted pages no longer contain any text.
